The IHRP Certification is a testament to your competence, professionalism and experience as a HR practitioner. Developed through extensive consultations and benchmarked against international standards, the IHRP Certification is an industry-endorsed mark of quality that acknowledges your mastery of future-ready competencies.

Various certification levels have been tailored for specific role profiles to provide the most professionally relevant credentials.

Who is it for?

IHRP Certified Associate (IHRP-CA)

The IHRP-CA is for you if you are a new and aspiring HR professional, HR consultants with less than 3 years of HR working experience and support the HR team in day-to-day HR operations and HR intervention strategies. Also applicable for students and mid-career switchers who currently do not meet the eligibility criteria required for IHRP Certified Professionals (IHRP-CP) (i.e. (1) 3 years of HR-related work experience and (2) 150-hours of HR-related training or education).

IHRP Certified Professional (IHRP-CP)

The IHRP-CP is for you if you have more than 3 years of HR working experience, 150 HR training hours and responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and programmes to deliver HR services and operate the HR function. Consultants at an equivalent experience level whose work is directly relevant to HR are also eligible.

IHRP Senior Professional (IHRP-SP)

The IHRP-SP is for you if you are a seasoned and experienced HR leader with more than 8 years of HR working experience, 2 years of strategic experience, 150 HR training hours and responsible for leading a HR function, designing and developing HR policies and programmes, and providing day-to-day guidance to your team for HR service delivery. Consultants at an equivalent experience level whose work is directly relevant to HR are also eligible.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP is the pinnacle of the IHRP Certification, providing special recognition for top HR leaders from MNC, Public Sector and Small-Medium Enterprises, who are recognised and well-regarded by the HR community for their active contributions to the HR industry. They make up 1-2 % of our IHRP Certified community.

How would you be assessed?

IHRP Certified Associatel (IHRP-CA)

You will be assessed through:
Competency Assessment: Computer-based assessment comprising of multiple-choice questions for CA Paper

IHRP Certified Professional (IHRP-CP)

You will be assessed through:

Experience Assessment: Online submission of detailed information and documented proof to demonstrate HR at the CP level.

Competency Assessment: Computer based assessment comprising of multiple-choice questions for CP Paper.

IHRP Senior Professional (IHRP-SP)

You will be assessed through:

Experience Assessment: Online submission of detailed information and documented proof to demonstrate HR-related at the SP level.

Competency Assessment: Computer based assessment comprising of multiple-choice questions for Paper A and short-answer questions for SP Paper.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP certification is via invitation only, and not available for open application. The IHRP-MP Process is conducted once a year, where IHRP-MP candidates are nominated by Tripartite Partners and current IHRP-MPs and need to be approved by the IHRP Board.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP is the pinnacle of the IHRP Certification and initiated via a nomination process by Tripartite Partners and existing IHRP-MPs. The IHRP-MP is for you if you are a senior/ C-level HR leader who is well-regarded by the HR community and have actively contributed back to the HR industry. You would have with responsibilities for strategising and directing the HR management and development agenda at an organisation-wide level, often serving as a trusted business partner to C-level stakeholders.

^ Strategic experience is defined as:
• Leading a function/department in the design and development of HR/people-related policies and programmes
• Working closely with senior business leaders to drive organisation goals
• Leading HR/people-related strategic interventions that are mid to long term (3 years or more)

*Experience related to work listed in the Body of Competencies at the certification level, and can include internship/work placements
• 1 year = At least 50% of work in 1 calendar year are HR-related activities that are not operational or administrative work
Operational and administrative work refers to activities such as: payroll management, arranging applicant interviews, scheduling L&D programs, organising and maintaining employee records, updating HR databases, preparing/amending HR documents (e.g., employee contracts, confirmation letters), revising company policy documents, processing employee travels/claims, posting job ads, work pass applications

The IHRP Certification offers a holistic assessment and development journey. It is designed to help you become a well-rounded HR professional, who is able to demonstrate relevance in up-to-date HR knowledge, competencies and developments.

STAGE 1

Registration. Access the online form to start your application process. You will need to provide your NRIC/Identification, detailed personal, employment information, as well as your HR-related work/ education and training for us to review. You will then be required to upload your HR-related certificates and transcripts, CV, as well as supporting documents where applicable for exemption from specific sections of the assessment.

STAGE 2

Eligibility Check. Upon application, you will need to provide the following check your eligibility and determine the assessment you are required to take:

  • Your course and institution name if you are on/have recently completed a course that allows exemption from a part of an assessment (CA HRL1 exemption, CP EA exemption, SP EA exemption)
  • Your HR working experience (CP and SP only)
  • Your strategic working experience (SP only)
  • Your HR-related training hours (CP and SP)

Select your desired time slot and mode of assessment to take your competency assessment.

STAGE 3

Experience Assessment (CP and SP only). Indicate your depth and breadth of HR experience as referenced against the IHRP Body of Competencies (BoC).

STAGE 4

Competency Assessment. Take the computer-based assessment remotely or at a test centre. You will be conferred with the IHRP Certification if you successfully meet all requirements of the assessment.

STAGE 5

Continuing Professional Development. Upon certification, you are encouraged to embark on your continuing professional development (CPD) journey. Your CPD hours, together with testimonial confirming your involvement in HR-related roles and a declaration of compliance to the IHRP Code of Professional Conduct will be required for recertification at the end of 3 years.

If you are a IHRP-CA or IHRP-CP, you may also choose to apply to upgrade to the next certification level.

A continued investment in learning and development is essential for you to keep ahead of the times and progress in your HR career.

The business, work and HR environments are changing all the time. As an IHRP-certified professional, you need to invest in learning and personal development activities to keep abreast of these changes and continue to support the business.

The CPD hours are necessary for recertification every 3 years. The 45 CPD hours may be accumulated through multi-modal learning opportunities including activities such as accredited courses, self-study, workshops and conferences, e-learning, IHRP Connect mobile platform learning and etc.

Recertification ensures that your skills and experience remain current, and demonstrates your commitment to professional development. To remain IHRP-certified, you will need to go through recertification every 3 years.

Certified HR professionals who wish to extend their certifications are required to submit a recertification application

To recertify, you will need to submit:

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Supporting documents of continuing professional development activities undertaken (total of 45 hours)
  • Statement of Professional Conduct: Declaration of compliance with the IHRP Code of Professional Conduct
  • HR-related work: Latest up-to-date CV or LinkedIn profile URL

To be an IHRP-certified HR professional, you must comply with and commit to upholding and maintaining the standards and behaviours set out in our Code of Professional Conduct. Complying with the code serves to ensure public confidence in the integrity of our certification.

Code of Professional Conduct has 5 core principles:

1. Integrity

Demonstrating strong moral principles and maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in discharging HR duties and establishing a reputation as a trusted HR professional.

2. Objectivity

Adopting a fair and equitable approach towards HR and business matters, and in doing so, inspiring trust and credibility as a competent HR professional.

3. Professional Competence

Being accountable for your own actions, taking personal ownership for developing and maintaining professional competencies, and keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments in HR and adjacent disciplines so as to build credibility as an HR professional.

4. Confidentiality

Adhering to high ethical standards when managing classified and sensitive information and/or private personnel data.

5. People Advocacy

Committing to place People at the heart of HR work, to exercise empathy and compassion when dealing with people, and to develop their potential while in pursuit of organisational goals.
