Experience Pathway

The current certification pathway is for existing HR Professionals who meet the eligibility criteria of 2 years of HR-related work experience at the relevant seniority level and have 150-hours of HR-related training or education.

Who is it for?

IHRP Certified Professional (IHRP-CP)

The IHRP-CP is for you if you have more than 2 years of HR experience and responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and programmes to deliver HR services and operate the HR function. Consultants at an equivalent experience level whose work is directly relevant to HR are also eligible.

IHRP Senior Professional (IHRP-SP)

The IHRP-SP is for you if you are a seasoned and experienced HR leader with responsibilities for leading a HR function, designing and developing HR policies and programmes, and providing day-to-day guidance to your team for HR service delivery. Consultants at an equivalent experience level whose work is directly relevant to HR are also eligible.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP is the pinnacle of the IHRP Certification, providing special recognition for top HR leaders from MNC, Public Sector and Small-Medium Enterprises, who are recognised and well-regarded by the HR community for their active contributions to the HR industry. They make up 1-2 % of our IHRP Certified community.

How would you be assessed?

IHRP Certified Professional (IHRP-CP)

You will be assessed through:

Experience Assessment: Online submission of detailed information and documented proof to demonstrate HR-related training and experience.

On-site Assessment: Computer based assessment comprising of multiple-choice questions for Paper A and B

IHRP Senior Professional (IHRP-SP)

You will be assessed through:

Experience Assessment: Online submission of detailed information and documented proof to demonstrate HR-related training and experience.

On-site Assessment: Computer based assessment comprising of multiple-choice questions for Paper A and short-answer questions for Paper C.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP certification is via invitation only, and not available for open application. The IHRP-MP Process is conducted once a year, where IHRP-MP candidates are nominated by Tripartite Partners and current IHRP-MPs and need to be approved by the IHRP Board.

IHRP Master Professional (IHRP-MP)

The IHRP-MP is the pinnacle of the IHRP Certification and initiated via a nomination process by Tripartite Partners and existing IHRP-MPs. The IHRP-MP is for you if you are a senior/ C-level HR leader who is well-regarded by the HR community and have actively contributed back to the HR industry. You would have with responsibilities for strategising and directing the HR management and development agenda at an organisation-wide level, often serving as a trusted business partner to C-level stakeholders.

Your Journey through the IHRP Certification

There are 3 levels of IHRP Certification that are designed to help you become a well-rounded HR professional who is able to demonstrate relevance in up-to-date HR knowledge, competencies and developments.

You will need to provide detailed personal and employment information, as well as your HR-related work/ education and training for our review.

Application guides:

  • For IHRP-CA candidates, the following documents are compulsory:
    • updated Curriculum Vitae for Working Professionals
    • proof of current course details for Full-time students
    • proof of course exemption for Paper N (currently pursuing or graduated not more than 3 years )
  • For IHRP-CP & IHRP-SP candidates, the following documents are compulsory:
    • updated Curriculum Vitae
    • proof of 150 HR-related training hours ^
    • reference testimonial from your Referee that is dated not more than 2 years ago

STEP 2:

Choose your Remote Assessment or On-site Assessment date and make payment online.  If your application is successful, you will receive a confirmation note one month before your selected assessment date, and you may proceed with your Competency Assessment.

Remote or On-site Competency Assessment.  Take the computer-based assessment on your selected assessment date.  You will be conferred with the IHRP Certification if you successfully meet the requirements of the assessment.


STEP 3:

Upon certification, you are encouraged to embark on continuing your professional development (CPD) journey.  Your CPD hours, together with a testimonial confirming your involvement in HR-related roles and a declaration of compliance to the IHRP Code of Professional Conduct will be required for recertification at the end of 3 years.

Assessment Information

The Assessment format for each certification level is as follows:

Paper A is a common paper regardless of certification level.

For CP to SP upgrades, candidates who had previously sat for Paper A at the IHRP-CP level, provided that the Paper A validity is still current, s/he will be exempted from taking Paper A at IHRP-SP.

Notes:

The validity of the individual paper upon passing the assessment is:

  • Paper A valid for 5 years
  • Paper B valid for 18 months
  • Paper C valid for 18 months
  • Paper N valid for 18 months

A continued investment in learning and development is essential for you to keep ahead of the times and progress in your HR career.

The business, work and HR environments are changing all the time. As an IHRP-certified professional, you need to invest in learning and personal development activities to keep abreast of these changes and continue to support the business.

The CPD hours are necessary for recertification every 3 years. The 90 CPD hours may be accumulated through multi-modal learning opportunities including activities such as accredited courses, self-study, workshops and conferences, e-learning, IHRP Connect mobile platform learning and etc.

Recertification ensures that your skills and experience remain current, and demonstrates your commitment to professional development. To remain IHRP-certified, you will need to go through recertification every 3 years.

Certified HR professionals who wish to extend their certifications are required to submit a recertification application

To recertify, you will need to submit:

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Supporting documents of continuing professional development activities undertaken (total of 90 hours)
  • Statement of Professional Conduct: Declaration of compliance with the IHRP Code of Professional Conduct
  • HR-related work: Latest up-to-date CV or LinkedIn profile URL

To be an IHRP-certified HR professional, you must comply with and commit to upholding and maintaining the standards and behaviours set out in our Code of Professional Conduct. Complying with the code serves to ensure public confidence in the integrity of our certification.

Code of Professional Conduct has 5 core principles:

1. Integrity

Demonstrating strong moral principles and maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in discharging HR duties and establishing a reputation as a trusted HR professional.

2. Objectivity

Adopting a fair and equitable approach towards HR and business matters, and in doing so, inspiring trust and credibility as a competent HR professional.

3. Professional Competence

Being accountable for your own actions, taking personal ownership for developing and maintaining professional competencies, and keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments in HR and adjacent disciplines so as to build credibility as an HR professional.

4. Confidentiality

Adhering to high ethical standards when managing classified and sensitive information and/or private personnel data.

5. People Advocacy

Committing to place People at the heart of HR work, to exercise empathy and compassion when dealing with people, and to develop their potential while in pursuit of organisational goals.

Development Pathway

About the Programme

The 2-year IHRP Certified Associate (IHRP-CA) Programme provides a structured development pathway for new and aspiring HR Professionals towards IHRP-CP professional certification. This dynamic programme equips individuals with both HR knowledge and exposure to industry-leading practices. It also provides professionals and students that are not in HR to have opportunities to learn and apply emerging HR Skills.

The programme is part of IHRP’s Development Pathway targeted at HR Professionals who currently do not meet the eligibility criteria of the Experience Pathway. It is designed to equip IHRP Certified Associates (IHRP-CA) with application of HR knowledge and accelerate their readiness to take on bigger HR roles as an IHRP-Certified Professional (IHRP-CP).

The programme is made available to the following groups:

  • Working Professionals (Non-HR Graduates, PMETs, Junior HR Specialists, HR Admin)
  • Fresh HR Graduates

Stage 1

Pre-qualification. Complete the Foundation Assessment Papers:

  • Paper A – Employment Policies and Legislations, and
  • Paper N – Foundational HR knowledge and competencies as outlined by IHRP’s Body of Competencies (BOC).

Online preparatory materials and accredited training programmes are available to prepare you for the papers.

HR students graduating from designated polytechnics and universities are eligible for exemption from FoundatioN Paper (Paper N).

Stage 2

Learning & Development. Through the IHRP Certified Associate (IHRP-CA) Programme, you will go through structure learning through 3Es

Emerging Skills. Micro- credential in emerging HR skills, application of HR skills through capstone projects, Skills Framework Workshops and Human Capital Diagnostic Tool (HCDT)

Exposure. Mentoring, networking opportunities, learning journeys

Education. Curated content and Communities of Practice on IHRP mobile-enabled learning platform, courses in emerging HR skills provided by accredited partners

Stage 3

Progression to IHRP Certified Professional (IHRP-CP) level

  • Paper B – Functional and foundational competencies
  • Experience Assessment – You will need to provide detailed information on your HR experience, as well as your HR-related education and training for us to review.

Accredited training programmes are available to prepare you for the Paper B.

IHRP-CA who successfully attain at least 2 HR skills micro-credentials will be exempted from Experience Assessment.
