Earlier this year, Mr. Kenny Tan was appointed as Deputy Chairperson with effect from 1 June 2023, taking over outgoing Deputy Chairperson Mr. Poon Hong Yuen.

“I am delighted to welcome Deborah and Kenny to IHRP and thank Swee Chen and Hong Yuen for their commitment and contributions. Deborah and Kenny will be instrumental in supporting IHRP’s strategic focus on uplifting HR capabilities and empowering HR professionals to become key business enablers,” said Mr. Aslam Sardar, Chief Executive Officer of IHRP. “One of the things most apparent from this transition is the stability and strength that our previous Board members have left the organisation in and the good hands we are in to set forth into the next phase of our transformative journey. Together, we will fulfil our mission to unlock the full potential of human capital.”

Ms. Goh Swee Chen was appointed the Chairman of the IHRP Board from its inception in August 2016. “I am a firm believer that strong HR capabilities can make the difference between an underperforming and a thriving organisation. It has been an honour for me to serve as the first Chairman of IHRP Board and be given the opportunity, together with fellow Board Directors, to promote HR professionalism and impacting a world-class Singapore workforce. I have valued the partnerships with IHRP and members of the industry over the past seven years” said Ms. Goh. “I heartily congratulate Deborah as she takes on this new role with IHRP.”

“The world of work is changing rapidly, and the future is already here, bringing along the shifting expectations of the workforce and at the workplace. As the professional body for the HR profession, the work of IHRP in helping to transform businesses through HR has never been more integral and important,” said Mrs. Deborah Ong, incoming Chairperson of the Board of IHRP. With over 30 years of professional services experience and various leadership positions in PwC Singapore, her wealth of experience will enhance and complement the competencies and skills of the present Board.
