While designing the company’s “Team Bond Nite”, Ms Carmelia Ng, IHRP-Senior Professional and Senior Manager of Talent & Organisation Development at Fuji Xerox Singapore has never imagined that this employee engagement event will later go on to market the company’s latest products at their marquee event, Innovation Re:Mix Forum.

As the main organiser for Team Bond Nite, the HR team led by Ms Carmelia wanted to keep the employees engaged and motivated to contribute towards the organisational goals through fun and innovative activities. One of the committee members suggested to set up a competition for each department to create sustainable “fashion wear” using only the company’s recycled materials and products to interpret the company core values.

By adopting an open mindset and designing the competition to meet the needs of the employees as well as the needs of the business, the HR team was able to engage the different departments to successfully put together interesting fashion wear within three weeks.

Eventually, it was through one individual who revealed his hidden talent, that led to his department winning this competition.

Fuji Xerox Singapore’s Senior Innovation Specialist, Mr Alex Kwok and his team, used a combination of production printers and printing paper to create “paper couture” from the Japanese art of paper folding. Borne out of his desire to highlight the versatile capabilities of Fuji Xerox’s latest production printing solutions, the winning entry was designed and created using only normal art card, and simple items like glue, double-sided tape and Scotch Tape.

These dresses were later modified to be showcased during a fashion show at Fuji Xerox Singapore’s inaugural business event, Innovation Re:Mix Forum. The showcase and captured both the attention and praise from the attendees, made up of both customers and media.

Ms Jacely Voon, General Manager of Human Capital & CSR has this to add on her team’s recent IHRP certification, “with the implementation of the HR Business Partnering model in 2018, it has been our core focus to help our business leaders actualise greater value from HR initiatives. I sensed an increased confidence from our HR members after the IHRP accreditation to guide our leaders in the implementation of HR programmes. The business outcome achieved, such as the one we saw from the Team Bond Nite is one heartening example.”
